Please review the SAM research steps before getting started so you can have a successful experience with Symphony. When you register, Symphony provides a preview of your company's SAM data. The SAM preview allows you to review your data and make any changes needed in SAM before proposal submission. Due to limited availability from the SAM API, we do not update your SAM data regularly. We only update SAM for the evaluators after submission.
The information contained in this article also address frequently asked questions that you may have regarding SAM. Be advised Symphony has no affiliation with SAM. The information in this article is for reference purposes only.
Please follow the steps below to verify your SAM data.
- Navigate to sam.gov.
- Search Records.
- Preview the Results.
- View Details.
- Select the POC link.
- Select the Reps & Certs link.
Navigate to sam.gov.
Symphony is using an API provided by SAM to collect your SAM information directly. For validation purposes, you can only add your organization, team members, and MRCLS to your Company assets by looking up an organization by DUNS number. Beginning April 4, 2022, your DUNS will be replaced by your SAM Unique Entity Identifier (UEI).
You can search by entity/company name or by DUNS/UEI. DUNS/UEI is a more specific search. Select the SEARCH button.
Preview the Results.
A successful search will return results. The entity overview provides a quick look at a company. Confirm the entity name, DUNS/UEI, status, expiration date, and purpose of registration. Symphony can only verify the DUNS/UEI you are using if it leads to a SAM record that has been made public.
If an entity record is not returned from the search, there will be a message that “Access to this entity registration is restricted. It cannot be displayed through public search. If you are a U.S. government user, log into SAM and try your search again”. This message means the record needs to be changed to Public so Symphony can connect to it via the SAM API. We cannot verify account information in a private SAM account.
Use the View Details button to verify SAM information such as Core Data, Assertions, Reps and Certs, and POCs.
Select the POC link.
SAM displays the Mandatory and Optional Points of Contact. Symphony assigns your roles and permissions based on the SAM data at the time of your registration. Only the SAM Authorized Point of Contact(s) have immediate access to sign in to Symphony. The SAM POC(s) will have access to the Administration menu in Symphony. The SAM POC can activate additional users in Symphony after they register themselves for Symphony. There is no activation in SAM. Activation occurs in Symphony.
If you are not authorized to sign in immediately, please contact your SAM POC(s) on your own and request that they register for Symphony and then activate your registration. Please refer to How to Manage Users for more information.
Select the Reps & Certs link.
All changes and corrections to your SAM data and the Reps and Certs must be made in SAM before submission to a solicitation to provide the government with an accurate record. You cannot make changes to your SAM data in Symphony. You change SAM data at SAM.gov. Any changes will not immediately reflect in Symphony. We will update Symphony with the most up-to-date SAM information at the time of submission.
We advise that you do not make your SAM record private until after the contract award. The government will need to collect up to date SAM data from your account via Symphony. After submission, we will use the API to update your Symphony profile with any changes to your SAM Data. Please make sure your data is correct in SAM since this is what the evaluators will see when they evaluate your proposal.
